This Day in Music History: Lennon and McCartney meet, Queen releases their debut single

The Beatles A Hard Day's Night

1957 – John Lennon and Paul McCartney meet for the first time at The Woolton Church Parish Fete where Lennon’s band The Quarrymen are appearing. While the band is setting up for their evening performance, an eager McCartney snatches up a guitar and plays “Twenty Flight Rock” and “Be-Bop-A-Lula.” He further impresses Lennon when he teaches him and Eric Griffiths how to tune their guitars, something they’d been paying someone else to do for them.
