For Root Down in the Shadow’s latest Cover Club session, New England artist Max Garcia Conover covered “Leave Ruin” by Philadelphia-by-way-of-Indiana songwriter Strand of Oaks. Although Max hails from Portland, Maine, he has always felt a strong connection to Philadelphia ever since listening to Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly” as a kid. Tonight’s Concert Picks: Max Garcia Conover house show in Ambler

Max Garcia Conover performs a special concert in Ambler tonight. The Maine-based musician is almost constantly touring the country; tonight’s show with The Ghost of Paul Revere and Josh Savage is in the opening stretch of a two-month long roadtrip from New Hampshire to California and back. Conover has released a pair of EPs and a pair of LPs over the last few years, most recently last fall’s Ellery.
