The night of WXPN’s live broadcast with Mumford & Sons at the Susquehanna Bank Center (SBC) on Sunday, February 17th, the backstage area and loading dock at the SBC was brimming with a crew on site to film the new video for “Whispers In The Dark.” You can watch the video below. It features Marcus Mumford riding his motorcycle up the ramp of the loading dock (scary!), some footage shot at the Aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey. It also features a guest appearance from Haim who opened the show that night.

It’s a big night for local music – Tri State Indie will hold their second annual awards show at World Cafe Live, hosted by Toy Soldiers‘ Ron Gallo. With performances by New Sweden (last year’s Delaware Indie Band of the Year), Cold Fronts and more, the event includes a red carpet walk with professional photographers and gift bag for all attendees. Recent Run For Cover Records additions Modern Baseball play The Fire tonight. Their 2012 debut LP Sports is getting the reissue-treatment by the new label and will be released on March 12th. The local band also contributed to a benefit 4-way split for Topshelf Records this week along with Philly friends The Hundred Acre Woods, Maryland’s Julia Brown and Old Gray, with proceeds go to global anti-violence charity V-Day. Artists Project Earth (APE) is an international organization that, according to their website, “has funded over 300 projects and awareness-raising initiatives around the world that combat climate change and develop local resilience and solutions to climate injustice – and gives emergency funding for natural disaster relief.” Some of APE’s projects have been collaborations with musicians resulting in three fundraising albums to date including Rhythms Del Mundo Cuba, Rhythms Del Mundo Classics and Rhythms Del Mundo Revival. Next Tuesday Rhythms Del Mundo Africa is being released. It includes contributions from Coldplay, R.E.M., Fleet Foxes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mumford & Sons, Aloe Blacc, Beyonce, Eminem, and others, along with African musicians including Toumani Diabaté, Ali Farka Touré Band and Rokia Traoré. Tonight’s Concert Picks: WXPN Welcomes John Mayall to World Cafe Live at the Queen and Willy Mason to World Cafe Live in Philadelphia

The man with the harmonica who has graced us with his jazzy voice and bluesy beats for over five decades is playing tonight at World Cafe Live at the Queen in Wilmington. John Mayall began his career in England in the mid 1950′s as John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers; a group that welcomed some of rock ‘n roll’s biggest names including: Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce, and Mick Fleetwood, among others. Doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 8 sharp. You can grab your tickets to this all ages show here.

The son of two folk singers, it is no surprise that Willy Mason followed in his parent’s footsteps. The country/folk singer was discovered by Conor Oberst in 2004, and since has played extensively with bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, and will be on tour with Mumford & Sons this fall. He is currently working on his third studio album, you can go here to his website and download a single from the album entitled “Restless Fugitive.” Willy Mason plays tonight at World Cafe Live Upstairs at 8 PM.
