Residuels debut their new look as a four-piece tonight at Boot & Saddle. After drummer Pat Troxell dispersed for sunnier days in Georgia with his other band Creepoid earlier this year, frontman Justin Pittney thought the group was put to rest.  But a working relationship with Iggy Pop and some choice advice inspired him to charge on with a new line-up and new album, recorded at Uniform Recording with Jeff Zeigler.  Tickets and information for the 21+ show can be found here.  Listen to “Maligned” below.

Get to know MarchFourth Marching Band (playing The Blockley on Sunday)

MarchFourthWith a style that seems to be an amalgamation of New Orleans brass bands and South Philly Mummers, Portland’s MarchFourth Marching Band will takeover The Blockley this Sunday, April 14th.  The west coast big band combines horn sections, percussion and other instruments with live performances by acrobats and dancers for a cinematic effect similar to that of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.  Tickets and information for the event with Philly’s New Sound Brass Band can be found here.  Watch a preview of MarchFourth Marching Band below.

Celebrate Mardi Gras early with New Sound Brass Band and Cask & Co. (playing Field House on 2/8)

Ultimate show host (and band leader) TJ Kong presents Philly’s New Sound Brass Band with Cask & Co. this Friday at Field House.  The Brass Band is made up of 2 St. mummers emulating the authentic New Orleans marching sound with bold, energetic performances.  Also playing are Cask & Co., featuring TJ Kong & The Atomic Bomb drummer Dan Cask in a rootsy, foot stomping outfit tagged as “holler rock.”  The show is free, and more information can be found on the Facebook event page here.  Below, check out New Sound Brass Band letting loose with The Drifters’ “Under the Boardwalk.”
