Denver’s DeVotchKa bring their chamber orchestra project to The Trocadero tonight. After recording a live album with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks Amphitheater, the Eastern European-influenced quartet hit the road with a chamber orchestra to bring the full and intricate layers of an orchestral performance to smaller stages. The band is also testing out new material that will be recorded as a follow-up to 2011′s 100 Lovers. Tickets and information for tonight’s all-ages show with Pearl and the Beard can be found here. Below, watch DeVotchKa perform “All the Sand in All the Sea” live at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony.

My Morning Download: “Country Queen” by Night Moves

Google “Night Moves” and right below the Bob Seger classic of the same name you’ll find the Minneapolis band Night Moves. The band has captured our attention with their new album Colored Emotions on Domino Records. The record fuses dusty country soul and ambient-pop stylings with smooth blissful melodies and a colorful array of shimmering sounds and soothing textures. Lead singer John Pelant’s falsetto is moving in a way that Marc Bolan of T. Rex pulled off on their classic Electric Warrior and The Slider. It’s an impressive debut from a band with a lot of fresh ideas. Below, download “Country Queen” and “Headlights.” Purchase the record here.
