Brooklyn’s People Get Ready bring their Physiques tour to Johnny Brenda’s tonight. The indie super group, which features members from Yeasayer, A Sunny Day in Glasgow and Lizzie Trulie released the LP in June earning praise from NPR for its blend of rock, dance and performance art. As it does each final Friday, the Indie Rock Hit Parade gets condensed down to a one-hour ‘Compact’ edition tonight at 11pm on XPN! Philadelphia and WXPN’s buddy Sean Hoots will be playing at Johnny Brenda’s tonight, celebrating the propulsion of his solo career. His show tonight will spotlight solo material to be released sometime within this year, as his website says, “2013 is ours for the taking. Join me!” For those who want to listen to Mr Hoots immediately can enjoy his solo Bandcamp where has an atmospheric / soundscape album entitled Volume 1 under the name Raise The Dead! Today’s World Cafe download is “Three Strangers” by the Brooklyn band People Get Ready. Members of the band include Steven Reker, Luke Fasano (ex-Yeasayer), James Rickman (ex-Lizzie Trulie, ex-Slow Gherkin), and Jen Goma (A Sunny Day in Glasgow). In 2006 Reker moved from Arizona to New York City, finding work as a dancer and guitarist on David Byrne’s 2008-09 tour, as a composer in Yasuko Yokoshi’s recent dance work, and as a choreographer for Miranda July’s film The Future. The band released its self-titled debut in October, 2012. They visited World Cafe with David Dye in January; listen to the full interview and performance here.
