Fast! Philly!. With its rare footage from the early 80s through today, the film uncovers and recalls Philadelphia’s hardcore punk history through the lens of bands and fans that were (and are) integral parts of the cultural environment. Bands featured in Loud! Fast! Philly! include The Dead Milkmen, McRad, Decontrol and more – check out a preview of the film below. Tickets and information for the 10:30 p.m. and showing can be found here (8:00 p.m. is sold out).

On their third record, titled American Dreamland, Brooklyn duo Loop 2.4.3 explore the social constructions and tendencies of American life through their percussion-based compositions, running through themes inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, Easy Rider and other nostalgic pieces of Americana pop culture. “As a Child” opens with a Sigur Ros-esque calm and rosy colored innocence before juxtaposing the retrospective viewpoint of, perhaps, the song’s narrator as an adult, who realizes some things can’t last forever. Loop 2.4.3 play World Cafe Live tomorrow night for the Philly Drum Project‘s first anniversary show, alongside Philadelphia native Ari Hoenig. Tickets and information for the event can be found here. Watch a video for “As a Child” below.
