Raekwon will be performing sans Clan at the Blockley on Thursday. Respected as much for his solo work as he is for his involvement with Wu-Tang, this spring Raekwon will be juggling solo shows and full-band festival sets. Of course, a busy spring tour schedule could be expected from a man whose work was once described as “gangsta Iliad” by the Miami New Times and who was praised as a “Greek god” by Kanye West. Indeed, Raekwon, or Corey Woods, is something of a legend in the hip hop world. He has been with the Wu-Tang Clan since 1992 and released his first solo debut in 1995. He has two solo studio albums due out—one projected for 2013 and another for 2014. For the current tour, Raekwon will be performing new material from his January EP, Lost Jewelry. Tickets and information for the all ages show ($4 surcharge for under 21) are available here. Below, stream Lost Jewelry courtesy of Datpiff.

Every summer, many a Philadelphia hip-hop fan is disappointed as they miss out on Rock The Bells in NYC, due to either distance or the $100+ ticket prices. Thankfully though, the organizers of the four-city festival took note this year, and partnered with promoters Guerrilla Union and House of Blues Entertainment to organize a very one of a kind tour featuring some of the iconic RTB artists. There will be two separate legs of the tour, the first of which stops in Philly tonight and will feature Raekwon and Ghostface Killah performing their 1995 hit album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, as well as duo Mobb Deep performing their breakout LP The Infamous from the same year. The second leg of the Rock The Bells tour will stop in Philly on September 11th at the TLA. That date will feature Black Star (aka Mos Def and Talib Kweli) performing their 1998 collaborative album Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star. Damn! Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Mobb Deep perform at the TLA at 7:00 p.m.; tickets to the all-ages show are $42.
