1941 – The world’s first commercial FM radio station, Nashville’s W47NV, begins broadcasting.
1966 – Jimi Hendrix meets the final member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, bassist Noel Redding, when Redding unsuccessfully auditions for Eric Burdon’s new Animals lineup at the Birdland club in London.
1957 – Buddy Holly records “Peggy Sue.”
The fact that their forthcoming album release date got pushed back by a few months should give you even more incentive to see Philly’s Bleeding Rainbow tonight at Johnny Brenda’s. The punk quartet will no doubt be playing tracks from Yeah Right (which comes out on January 29th through Kanine Records) when they take the stage with Far-Out Fangtooth and Heavy Medical. Tickets to the 21+ show are $10; doors open at 8:00 p.m. and music starts at 9:15 p.m. Watch the video for Bleeding Rainbow’s single “Pink Ruff” below.
