Two new updates from Alex G: the local musician has now adopted his social media handle (Sandy) Alex G as his official moniker, most likely in an effort to further differentiate his bedroom indie rock from the YouTube-famous pop covers of a different Alex G; and he’s shared a new track from the forthcoming Rocket LP due out on May 19th.

Alex G’s tour with Teen Suicide comes to PhilaMOCA on February 3rd

Philly’s Alex G recently announced an east coast/mid-west tour with Maryland noise-pop band, Teen Suicide. Frontman Alex Giannascoli received high praise from press for his June 2014 full-length debut, DSU. Spin, Rolling Stone, and Pitchfork are a few magazines to pick up on his DIY-sound, and the record is his first label-backed release off Orchid Tapes.

Rolling Stone named “Harvey” – a bedroom-pop, airy sound off DSU – one of the top 50 songs of 2014. The 21-year-old lo-fi artist recently put out a video for “Harvey”, in which a model house burns down while he strums his acoustic guitar in a bedroom. Continue reading →

Finally! The moment we’ve all been waiting for. This year’s Walla Fest lineup has been released, and it features some of the best local musicians the Philadelphia and surrounding metropolitan area has to offer including reggae group The Snails (who are back for their second year in a row), bedroom pop musician Alex G, folkish alt-rockers Pine Barons, cathartic singer-songwriter Abi Reimold mellow rock band Free Cake for Every Creature.  The festival will be held inside of Norristown’s Centre Theater.
