Graham Nash, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo and more will play Philadelphia Folk Festival 2017

Veteran singer-songwriter Graham Nash and well-traveled bluegrass ensemble Old Crow Medicine Show lead off the lineup of artists performing at the 56th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival this summer.

Set for August 17th through the 20th at Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township, the initial lineup also includes Taj Mo: a new collaboration between blues favorites Taj Mahal and Keb Mo’, and their respective bands. Also bringing the blues is Kansas City guitarist and songwriter Samantha Fish, while bluegrass mandolinist Sierra Hull makes her festival debut. Continue reading →

Taj Mahal and Blind Boys of Alabama are playing the Keswick Theatre on Thursday, June 19th. Tickets are on sale now. The show promises to be a fantastic roots music filled evening of gospel, country and folk blues. Below, watch Taj Mahal perform his classic “Fishin’ Blues,” and listen to the Blind Boys perform their breathtaking cover of Bob Dylan’s “Every Grain of Sand,” from their recent Bon Iver produced I’ll Find A Way.

Tonight’s Concert Picks: Kurt Vile at Courtyard City Hall, Pissed Jeans at Morgan’s Pier, Taj Mahal at Havana

The City Hall Courtyard summer music series comes to a close tonight with a free solo performance by Kurt Vile.  Today has been dubbed Kurt Vile Day by the City of Philadelphia, which will present the Philly native with the Liberty Bell Award in recognition of his “outstanding professional achievements and civic generosity.”  Vile released his highly-regarded Wakin’ On a Pretty Daze LP earlier this year and will be back for a full-band show at Union Transfer on October 25th.  More information for tonight’s free concert can be found here.  Watch Vile’s video for “KV Crimes” below.
