Foxygen take over Montmartre in a Take Away Show (playing Firefly Festival on June 21-23)

foxygen_largeFoxygen infiltrated the streets of Monmartre in Paris with their flamboyant personality for a recent Take Away ShowLa Blogotheque filmed the New York psych / pop duo and their merry cohorts as they encountered curious school children, the notorious “string men” of the Sacre-Coeur, and apparently a stolen apple.  Sam France employs his best Mick Jagger impression as he proclaims the lyrics of “No Destruction” from the steps of the basilica after strolling along an outdoor market during “The Darkness.”  Foxygen join Dr. Dog, Jim James, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more at Firefly Festival in Dover, DE, on June 21-23; tickets and information can be found here.

Warm up with Josh Rouse’s Take Away Show (playing World Cafe Live on 4/26)

Josh-Rouse-3-by-Allen-Clark-Singer-songwriter Josh Rouse released The Happiness Waltz last week via Yep Roc Records and will perform in Philadelphia at World Cafe Live on April 26th.  The Nebraska-born world traveler spent several years living in Spain, his time there heavily influencing his 2010 album El Turista.  Ahead of that album’s release, French live session producers La Blogotheque caught up with Rouse to film a Take Away Show on the sun-drenched streets of Barcelona featuring equally sun-drenched songs from El Turista that will put this not-so-spring-like weather out of your mind, for a little while at least.  Watch Josh Rouse perform “Oh Look What the Sun Did” and “Duerme” in Part I below, then check out the rest of the segments here.  Tickets and information for Rouse’s all-ages show with Eleni Mandell can be found here.

Watch Indians perform a Take Away Show in Paris (playing Johnny Brenda’s on 3/9)

IndiansAfter interrupting a Jon Spencer rehearsal somewhere in Paris, Copenhagen’s Indians performed acoustic versions of “I Am Haunted” and “Cakelakers” from his 2012 debut Somewhere Else for La Blogotheque. Stripped of their layered reverb and theramin-y warbles, the songs revert to the form I imagine they were created in – just a simple acoustic guitar and vocal pairing, allowing the listener to get closer to the songs’ real emotions and essence.  Watch the Take Away Show below and download the album version of “I Am Haunted” here.  Indians opens for Night Beds with Cat Martino at Johnny Brenda’s on March 9th.  Tickets and information can be found here.
