Indie Rock Hit Parade Live Session: Weaves

Joining us for our latest Indie Rock Hit Parade Live Session is the Toronto-based band Weaves. Formed in 2012 by singer Jasmyn Burke and guitarist Morgan Waters, Weaves also features bassist Zach Bines and drummer Spencer Cole. The group released their second album, Wide Open, earlier this year on Kanine Records, and stopped by our studio before their show at the Boot & Saddle to perform some of the new songs live.

Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq will perform live, improvised soundtrack to Nanook of the North at the Kimmel Center

Hailing from one of the northern most regions of Canada in the Nunavut territory, Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq will bring her intersection of traditional folk music and punk / electronica influences to the Kimmel Center on April 13th. Though she released her fourth LP Retribution just last year, this special, improvised performance will be set against a screening of the groundbreaking (though controversial) 1922 silent documentary Nanook of the North, directed by Aaron Miller.
