Summer at The Dell brings Erykah Badu, Patti LaBelle, Keith Sweat, Ne-Yo and more to Fairmount Park

The Dell Music Center was made for summer concerts, and this year the open-air venue in Fairmount Park East will host a star-studded lineup of musicians almost every week throughout July and August. Many artists scheduled to perform are Dell veterans, like hometown soul/gospel icon Patti LaBelle and neo-soul queen Erykah Badu. Other familiar acts are also lined up, like 80’s R&B star Keith Sweat, gospel singer Tamela Mann and long-running R&B group Kool & the Gang. Continue reading →

Jake Ewald’s side project Slaughter Beach, Dog has been churning out a ton of material lately. From the Motorcycle.jpg EP to a new single off his upcoming record, to his recent rocking off of socks at this week’s The Key Studio Sessions — there’s a ton of music gold to delve into. With news feeds constantly chocked full of horrible events and somber information, it can be easy to forget the good in life. Like real, wholesome, simple kindness. Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly important to stay informed and involved in the not-so-feel-good news, but every once in a while, in the name of sanity, it’s vital to remind yourself of how people can just be awesome human beings to one another.

The War on Drugs provide this much-needed breath of fresh air to you today in the form of a music video for their single, “Holding On.” And all I can say is, my heart. Under filmmaker, Brett Haley’s direction, this beautiful video feels more like a short film, which follows an older widowed man through an unexpected day of sweet and simple encounters.
