Tonight’s Concert Picks: The Eeries at Kung Fu Necktie, Benjamin Francis Leftwich at World Cafe Live

EeriesPhilly garage rock four-piece The Eeries are back in South Philly after a winter tour, and are part of a big lineup at Kung Fu Necktie tonight. The band released its debut full-length Home Alone on cassette via Burger Records back in September, and you can get a good sense of the ramshackle rock and roll fun in its eleven tracks by listening to “Wait on You.” The Eeries perform with Hellshovel, Acid Baby Jesus, Niche, Devil at My Side and ((TACO)) tonight at Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 North Front Street. Tickets are available at the door, more information on the 21+ show can be found here.

Bandname, Slutever and others will play PhilaMOCA’s Nuclear BBQ on July 15th

The folks over at PhilaMOCA have put together a mini-fest of epic proportions to welcome Alabama grunge surf rockers Nightmare Boyzzz. The line-up is fully stocked with local favorites including the pumped-up punks of Bandname, girl power-duo Slutever, and the garage-rock stylings of The Shakes and The Eeries. Also on the bill is Seattle’s pop-punk outfit Tacocat. Plus (((TACO))) of Philly’s The Love Club — fresh off their new release, Full Length — will also perform.

The fest is Saturday, July 15th at PhilaMOCA. Tickets will be available at the door for $10. Expect lots of free food and drink. More details are available on the Facebook event page. Below, stream Bandname’s latest release, “King of Surfers,” from their split 7″.
