Ellen Siberian Tiger and more to play WOAR benefit show at World Cafe Live this weekend

This Saturday, May 26, the upstairs venue of World Cafe Live will be filled with the sounds of four of today’s best emerging artists for the kind of stacked benefit show that doesn’t come along all that often.

Local favorite Ellen Siberian Tiger, who last fall released the fantastic feminist anthem “When Men Explain Things To Me,” will headline the show. Fellow locals Queue and Baltimore’s Joy Postell will both open, along with the just-added Grace London from New York. Continue reading →

Hear new tracks from Honeytiger, Doggo, Anna Ladd and more on The Hook’s benefit comp EP

Philly music blog, The Hook, recently compiled a benefit EP titled The Winter Album, which features tracks from local artists Honeytiger, Doggo, Downtrodder, Anna Ladd, and Psycle.

Each of the five tracks on the EP are new, unreleased songs, which range from Honeytiger’s bluesy garage rock fuzz of “Going to England,” Doggo’s crunchy and swirling, “Donnie McNarb Super Bowl Champion XXIII,” Downtrodder’s blaring bout of truth in “Trashlisted,”  Anna Ladd’s moving, soft-folk ballad, “Jawline,” and Psycle’s heavy battle cry, “Face the Fire.” Continue reading →
