PAWS kick-off the free summer concert series at Morgan’s Pier tonight. Hailing from various corners of Scotland, the garage rock trio released their FatCat debut LP Cokefloat! in 2012 and were met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from both sides of the ocean. With a retro nineties sound that brings to mind the best of Stephen Malkmus and J Mascis, PAWS are band best seen live (where their guitars can really squeal). More information about tonight’s free show with We Were Promised Jetpacks can be found here. Watch PAWS perform “Sore Tummy” below.
The Go-Go’s headline the Keswick Theater tonight. The new wave girl group hit the top of the charts their debut Beauty and the Beat effort, which included the single “Our Lips are Sealed.” The band’s most recent release was 2001’s God Bless The Go-Go’s, though most members have kept busy with solo projects and other music related ventures. Tickets and information for tonight’s show can be found here. Watch the video for “Our Lips are Sealed” below.
The Brooklyn-based Roosevelt Dime play the Tin Angel tonight. Combining musical influences from up and down the Mississippi River, including Smokey Mountains bluegrass and New Orleans soul, Roosevelt Dime curate a sound that’s steeped in a variety of American traditions. Steamboat Soul, the band’s Kickstarter-funded full-length, was released in July of 2011. Tickets and information for tonight’s show can be found here.
