Yesterday we kicked off the XPN Local 12 Days of Christmas with a free download of “Christmas on the Block” by Larry Saklad, a new rendition of the 1983 seasonal pop song by the late Philadelphia songwriter Alan Mann. In 1995, a group of Mann’s old bandmates and friends – Kenn Kweder, Buzz Larkin, Joseph Parsons and George Manney – appeared in a televised special to raise awareness for local hunger organization Philabundance, and if you look quickly, you might be able to spot XPN’s Helen Leicht in the crowd.
