With bands like Taking Back Sunday and The Early November still alive and kicking (with their original lineups), fans of the early pop-punk wave have been enjoying a ride full of retrospective releases, new albums, and tours. Today, there’s two more reasons to rejoice as Midtown and Saosin have reunited. Before starting Cobra Starship, vocalist Gabe Saporta fronted New Jersey pop-punk outfit Midtown who disbanded in 2004 shortly after the release of their last album Forget What You Know. Their popularity was very modest but their sound stuck with fans of the genre who mourned the breakup. When Saporta posted this video on instagram, full frenzy ensued. Today, it’s official. Midtown has reunited and will play at Middletown, NJ’s Skate and Surf Festival on May 17th (headlining) and 18th at Middletown Sports Complex.

Elsewhere, emo rockers Saosin have reunited with original vocalist Anthony Green. Before his success with Circa Survive and as a solo artist, Green was the lead vocalist of Saosin from 2003-2004. The band is back in original form and will also play at Skate and Surf Festival in May along with The Early November, Hidden in Plain View, DMX, and yet-to-be-announced headliner for Day 2. Stay tuned to the festival’s website for more details and check out tunes from Midtown and Saosin below.
