Long Island electronic indie band Twin Sister – who you might remember from Weathervane Music’s 2010 Shaking Through session, recorded at Philly’s Miner Street Studio – is back with a new name (sort of) and a new direction. The band now goes by Mr. Twin Sister, and just shared a brand new song, the Tom Tom Club-esque, darkly disco-fied “Out Of The Dark,” that you can listen to below. The song was produced, mixed and engineered at Miner Street by Jonathan Low., who the band connected with when recording the Shaking Through cut “Meet The Frownies,” a song that was prominently sampled by Kendrick Lamar on “The Recipe” from his ground breaking Good Kid, M.a.a.d City. Last we heard from Twin Sister was in 2011, when they released In Heaven, however the band’s lead singer, Andrea Estella, (and some of the band’s music) was featured in the recent crowd funded Veronica Mars movie. The band plays Union Transfer on Thursday, June 26th, opening for The Antlers. Go here for tickets and more information.
