The opening notes of the 2014 XPoNential Music Festival were power chords played by Viv and the Revival, a local group set to release a new album called The Introduction next month.  Playing tracks off of the record, the band kept the energy high and the mood edgy as they sung about living life to the fullest, staying young and generally having fun at all times.

Their fame preceded them when it came time for “I Want It,” a song that earned placement in an Verizon phone commercial earlier this year.  The Marina Stage crowd (which was already almost packed, with even more people coming in off of the ferry) participated in what was sure to be the first of many sing alongs tonight.  Following “I Want It” frontman Viv Peyrat said he was going to slow it down a bit, which turned out to be the anthemic (and John Hughes film-esque) “Forever.”  The set placed the bar high for the rest of the night – below, check out photos, read the setlist and listen back to the full audio here (via the WXPN media player).

Setlist:

Shook Up
Rocket to Mars
I Want It
Forever
Live Like Kings
Welcome to a Good Time
