The next Philly Drum Project clinic will be hosted by Chris Powell, resident beat-maker for Man Man, Spaceship Aloha and more.  The Beats, Brews and Banter event will take place at Boot & Saddle on December 1st and is free to attend.

As clinic-leader, Powell will share stories, tips and technique he’s gathered during a nearly two-decade-long career of playing both locally and internationally.  His drumming path has led him to collaborations with the Sun Ra Arkestra and Yoko Ono, though his most creative outlets are projects like Adventuredrum and Mash Up Body, which combine music with performance art.  In 2007 Powell participated in 77Boadrum, a conceptual project created by Japanese hardcore band the Boredoms that brought 77 drummers together in a Brooklyn park for a one-off ensemble performance.

More information for this Beats, Brews and Banter event can be found here.  Watch Powell perform “Head On” live with Man Man below.
