Marco Benevento and his crew jammed out at today’s Free At Noon and knocked our socks clean off. Playing music from his new album, Swift, the artist spent his time on stage slamming away at the piano, giving hearty solos and laying down insane rhythms, while managing vocals and underlying synths as well. During the show, Benevento took the mic announcing in a deep, bellowing voice “We are on the radio,” egging on bassist Dave Dreiwitz and drummer Andy Borger by saying “Let’s weird them out!” From here, they launched into the jazzy electronic track “Coyote Hearing.”

Marco Benevento is many things, but he is without a doubt a piano master. The man can really get down. During the song, he whipped out an entrancing solo using his steel drum synth setting, eyes closed with a wide smile spread across his face. Every song was embellished with intricate piano flourishes including his closer, the magnetic pop track “At The Show” from his previous release TigerFace, where he added “I’ll see you all tonight at the show!”.

If you missed today’s electric Free At Noon, you can catch that show Marco Benevento was talking about: tonight (and tomorrow!) at Johnny Brenda’s. More information can be found here. Check out the photo gallery below and listen back to today’s performance from our archives.
