Chill Moody takes his talents to the 106 & Park Backroom

West Philadelphia native Chill Moody recently came to the coveted 106 & Park Backroom to display his wordplay and prowess on a grand stage that has hosted notable bars from the likes of Eminem and Slaughterhouse, Kendrick Lamar, and Hopsin to name a few.  The rapper’s first major television appearance seemed to go exactly how fans would come to expect, full of wordplay and charisma from an artist striving to make a name for himself.

Accompanied by his personal DJ and friend DJ Ricochet, Chill freestyles in this performance and certainly turned heads with bars alluding to his elusive flow but also paying homage to some of the greats such as The Roots lead vocalist BlackThought. “Chilly lights the path with a passed torch from BlackThought” just seems to weave its way in and out of the ear so smoothly.  The minute and a half video ends with Moody explaining what he’s about: “hard work beats talent, especially when talent is hardly working”.

With his oldest work wEST Chilly dating back to 2011, Moody’s lyricism is finally gaining some notoriety, previously being featured on platforms such as the legendary DJ Tony Touch’s Toca Tuesday radio show, Cosmic Kev’s Come Up Show and now the Backroom.

Moody has a few events on the radar.  On January 30th and 31st, he plays with Joell Ortiz and Chris Webby at District N9ne. And on March 7th, Chill headlines the TLA for the second time. This time the theme is #30IsTheNew30, and you guessed it, the show is a celebration of the rapper’s 30th birthday. (March 4th: mark your calendars.)
