Marcus Ardoin and Da Zydeco Legendz and Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and The Zydeco Twisters played a rousing, high energy live concert for WXPN’s Zydeco Crossroads at World Cafe Live on Thursday, April 2nd. Ardoin opened up the show, warmed up the capacity crowd with an exuberant one hour set. Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. took to the stage with his seven piece band and within seconds of him playing his first song, he busted out of the first of what would be numerous James Brown splits over the course of his set. Dopsie is a dynamic and explosive performer, and had the crowd dancing non-stop for an hour and forty minutes of feverish rock and soul influenced zydeco. Listen to both sets below.
