Craig Hendrix, the lead singer/songwriter of Philly quartet Auctioneer, has released a couple of solo tracks.

“Saigon” and “Silver Door” are available for download over on Hendrix’s SoundCloud, and encompass a more stripped-down, acoustic sound compared to the sometimes giddy/always art-pop/rock tracks from Auctioneer.

We interviewed Hendrix for The Key a few years back, where he admitted, “I like fiction and I like writing characters into songs,” but that Future Faces (released in June 2013) was based more on actual experience.

Hendrix’s latest solo work appears to be a mix of symbolism and narrative. He opens “Silver Door” with the line “I heard you sing the blues / Underneath the moon / Like something from another time / Like dandelion wine.”

Whether fact or fiction, we’re enjoying it.
