Philly darkwave three piece Blood Sound have just released their latest LP and are gearing up for the album release party this Friday. The record, Too Much Sun and Not Enough Gloom at the Beach, is the band’s second album this year. They’ve been hard at work putting out plenty of new material and now they’re getting ready to put it on display with a couple shows coming up this month.

First up is the record release show this Friday at Ortlieb’s with The Morelings, Winkie, and Nearest. Doors open at 9, and the show starts at 9:15. Check out the Facebook event page for more info.

After the release show Blood Sound comes to Kung Fu Necktie on August 20th. This time they share the bill with Single Lash, Future Museums, and the One2s. You can check out the XPN Concert Calendar for more info.

As for the new record, it is 12 tracks of dreamy industrial synth pop much in the same vein as 80s greats like Echo and the Bunnymen and New Order. The album is a must listen for fans of the genre, and of course those in touch with the local Philly scene. Check out the full LP below, and you can hear more tunes on their Bandcamp page as well. Like what you hear? You have two chances to go check them out in the next couple weeks so get on it!
