Gary Clark, Jr. just released his new album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. Over the last several years, the extraordinary blues and rock guitarist has shared the stages with many guitar playing legends including Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Keith Richards – all of whom have sung Clark’s praises.

Clark’s major label debut, Blak and Blu, was released almost two years ago. The album was at times too slick and stylistically scattered, and got a luke warm reception despite having some instant classics like “Bright Lights,” and “When My Train Pulls In,” that showcased his monstrous talents. Self-produced, The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim, is more cohesive and focused than his previous release, and overall Clark’s songwriting continues to mature. At the heart of it all, is his incredibly soulful guitar playing, and songs that draw not only on the blues and classic rock, but on R&B, hip-hop.
