Listen Donn T’s “Last Breath” remixed by her brother Questlove
Flight of the Donn is the latest album from R&B singer and songwriter Donn T, who comes from a musically talented family. She’s the granddaughter of Beachy Thompson from the gospel group Dixie Hummingbirds, the daughter of doo-wop and R&B singer Lee Andrews (of Lee Andrews & the Hearts) and Jacqui Andrews (who was a member of Congress Alley with Lee ), and her brother is Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of the Roots.
“Last Breath,” a song originally heard on Flight of the Donn, has gotten the remix treatment from brother Quest. He takes the original – an intimate song built on warm keyboards, delicate percussion and a lot of space – and injects it with some of his classic funkiness, swirling keys (by Ray Angry) and some smooth psychedelic Isley Brothers-esque guitars by Jake Morelli.
