To hear The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach explain it, The Arcs is more than a side project. Rather, it’s been a five plus year relationship with the band members and friends that, says Auerbach, “share a common love of being in the studio and making records.”

The Arcs include Auerbach, Leon Michels, Nick Movshon, Homer Steinweiss, Richard Swift and Kenny Vaughan. While Swift plays bass and some keyboards with The Black Keys, he plays drums in The Arcs along with Steinweiss. Together with Michels, Auerbach culled from about 75 songs recorded together over the years, named the band, and decided to put some of the songs out as The Arcs on their debut album, Yours, Dreamily.

Below, listen to Auerbach and Swift’s interview with Cafe host David Dye, and the band’s performances of four songs from Yours, Dreamilyincluding “Outta My Mind,” “Put A Flower In My Pocket,” “Pistol Made Of Bones,” and “Stay In My Corner.”

The Arcs play the Fillmore Philly on Wednesday, December 16th.
