Left-of-center Chicago singer-songwriter Andrew Bird will play Philadelphia for the first time since 2012 this spring. He headlines the Electric Factory on Monday, April 4th – just shy of four years since he played Union Transfer in May of 2012.
Bird released an ambient album earlier this year called Echolocations: Canyon tied in to an exhibition at ICA Boston; his covers collection Things Are Really Great Here, Sort Of… came out in 2014, but his last “pop album” so to speak was 2012’s Hands Of Glory. No word yet on whether this tour heralds new music, but Bird says it is for a good cause. From his Facebook announcement:
$1 for every ticket sold on the North American tour will be directed to organizations working to end gun violence to build safer communities.
Tickets for the Electric Factory show go on sale Friday, December 4th at noon; more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Below, watch Bird’s tour trailer via YouTube.
