1955 – Little Richard sends his first audition tape to Specialty Records.

1960 – The Everly Brothers sign a 10 year contract with Warner Brothers worth $1 million.

1966 – Brian Wilson begins recording the Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations.”

1967 – The Beatles begin recording “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite.”

1969 – Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan enter the studio to record a series of duets. “Girl from the North Country” is the only song released from this session.

1971 – James Taylor makes his debut on CBS’ The Johnny Cash Show.

1972 – Pink Floyd begin a four-night run at London’s Rainbow Theatre, charging just £1 for tickets. The “Eclipse” songs they play become Dark Side of the Moon.

1979 – The Clash opens their 1st US tour at the Palladium in NYC.

1998 – Ani DiFranco orders 250,000 copies of Little Plastic Castles from her self-owned record label, sparking peak interest in her music cand her DIY approach.

2010 – Mumford & Sons make their US TV debut on The Late Show with David Letterman.
