Philly punk explorers Modern Baseball have shared two new songs from their upcoming Holy Ghost, “Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind,” and “Everyday.”

Holy Ghost arrives as a follow-up to 2014’s You’re Gonna Miss It All and last year’s MOBO Presents: The Perfect Cast EP. Where You’re Gonna Miss It All mixed songs from the band’s two core songwriters, Brendan Lukens and Jake Ewald, Holy Ghost is split right down the middle, with side A containing songs from Ewald and side B from Lukens.

On these new songs, MOBO follows their punk voyage into a more expansive territory. “Everyday,” which was penned by Ewald, is a slow-build odyssey featuring picked acoustic guitar and a sing a long bridge before breaking into a bursting outro that contains what sounds kind of like a low bass synth drone.

Lukens’s contribution, “Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind” sounds vaguely reminiscent of The Killers, which would seem strange if the band wasn’t known to cover them frequently on tour. Both songs feature a beefed-up production style, which is new for the band, provided by Hop Along’s Joe Reinhart.

Lukens and Ewald were recently on Steven Hyden’s Celebration Rockpodcast, where they shared stories about touring and the recording process of Holy Ghost.

The band has also announced The Holy Ghost Tour, where they will be supported by Joyce Manor and Thin Lips. This includes a stop at Philadelphia’s Fillmore on June 26th. More information can be found here.

Holy Ghost, Modern Baseball’s 3rd record, is out May 13th on Run For Cover. Listen to “Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind” and “Everyday” below.
