Dean Ween gave fans a blast from the past last week when he surfaced an old tape recording he made with Ben Vaughn back in 1995. It’s a nameless song about summertime love, recorded around the time Vaughn, a longtime local / South Jersey musician now based in California, was working with Ween on their 12 Golden Country Greats album.

Fans have been digging the rarity, comparing it to Mac DeMarco and urging Dean (a.k.a. Mickey Melchiondo) to share other lost tracks he might have lying around.

Ween has, unfortunately, not announced any Philadelphia reunion dates yet, but you can catch Mickey up at John & Peter’s in New Hope pretty regularly. And be sure to tune into XPN on Saturday evenings for The Many Moods of Ben Vaughn.
