Local indie pop outfit Suburban Living have returned with a new album called Almost Paradise, set for release on October 7th via 6131 Records (home to recent releases by Julien Baker and NONA). Today’s announcement came with the LP’s first single in tow, an upbeat jammer called “Come True.” The album follows 2015’s self-titled full band debut.

The former solo project of Wesley Bunch has grown in size and sound since his Virginia Beach days. Filling out the band with three friends/musicians seems to have allowed Bunch space to expand and explore his colorful pop sound, which has always been infectiously catchy and slightly retro aesthetically, but is now all that on a larger scale. Bold synths lead “Come True” before a wash of surfy guitars and Bunch’s kaleidoscopic vocals whisk us away on their magic carpet.

Suburban Living have two dates coming up in Philadelphia: they’ll be at Kung Fu Necktie on Wednesday, August 24th before celebrating the record’s release at The Foundry with Sunflower Bean on October 8th. Tickets and information for both shows can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar.
