Mad Men’s Don Draper once said “We’re going to sit at our desks and keep typing while the walls fall down around us because we’re creative – the least important, most important thing there is.” Philly’s newest hip-hop duo Career Crooks (made of wordsmith Zilla Rocca and resident beat-maker Small Professor) confidently embraces Draper’s words by representing the creative on debut single “Least Important Most Important” off of the duo’s debut album Good Luck With That, out early 2017.

Although Zilla and SmallPro have individually contributed to the Philly hip-hop scene for the last decade, Career Crooks explores different territory for both parties. Rocca flows between hits on the constant drab of “normal” professions (“Half my people with the BA are bartenders / Other half think they love their jobs”) and the entitlement of other indie rappers, all while easily moving across Small Prof’s beat, a simple yet booming call back to ’90s hype rap. Paired with VHS-esque visuals of the head lyricist throughout the city, “Least Important Most Important” shows that Rocca only wants to be viewed as a good guy out to give the world the defining aspect of his life: his art.
