Introspective indie outfit Petal continues to make 2016 their most important year yet, releasing a captivating new video for “Chandelier Thief” off of their fantastic 2015 release Shame.

Focused on creative leader and front-woman Kiley Lotz, the video came at a time, she tweeted, when her “depression/paranoia symptoms were bad and I wasn’t doing so hot.” But Lotz found strength through the project with help of friend and director Sarah Trad. Simplistic, stunning visuals capture the beauty of the slow-rock jam as it tells the story of a “brick-laying lover,” a figure who’s unavoidable blue eyes pull Lotz into a tight fight between love and lust. A song that both says hello and goodbye, Lotz’s indecisiveness is a cry for help, engulfed by the uncertainty of who she’ll be after “blue eyes” is gone.

Watch the video below, and catch Petal on their current tour with Kevin Devine and Pinegrove when they hit Union Transfer on December 11th (more information can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar), and also check out the band’s 2015 Key Studio Session.
