California basslord Thundercat has finally announced the followup to 2015’s The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam, and he’s calling it Drunk. Where its predecessor came in at a criminally-short six tracks, this one makes up for lost time with a whopping twenty three. You can expect a variety of exciting collaborations from the likes of Pharrell and Kendrick Lamar, but the team-up that’s perhaps the most exciting is the one that dropped today. “Show You the Way” features both Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins, and it’s everything you would want it to be.

This probably goes without saying, but the track is smooth as hell. It’s got all the glitz and schmaltz of a classic 70s ballad mixed with a 21st century sense of humor. Case in point, all three vocalists are introduced with a “ladies and gentlemen” and a smattering of applause, but the melodies and Thundercat’s fantastic bass playing throughout are no joke. There’s a reason everyone under the sun wants this guy playing on their album. Stream the “Show You The Way” via Spotify below.

If you want to catch Thundercat live (you do), he’s coming to Union Transfer this March 4th. For tickets and more information, head over to XPN’s Concert Calendar.
