On day #56 of the current presidential term, Philly shoegaze punk outfit Nothing added their previously-unreleased song “Spell” to the Our First 100 Dayscomp. The digital benefit collection is a joint effort from Secretly Group, 30 Songs for 30 Days, and Revolutions Per Minute working to minimize the negative effects the new administration will have on some crucial organizations.

“Spell” comes from the recording sessions that resulted in Nothing’s latest Tired of Tomorrow LP, released last spring. Unlike the usually loud, fuzz-heavy ambiance we hear from the band, this track is almost a lullaby. Hazy harmonies recall the blissfulness of the Beach Boys, while lyrics about hoping for sleep are set against a gently-strummed guitar.

For a minimum $30 donation, listeners can gain access to 100 unreleased songs from artists like Angel Olsen, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Speedy Ortiz and more. The proceeds go towards funding organizations like The People’s Climate Movement and All Above All – for full details go here.

Stream “Spell” below. Nothing play Union Transfer on June 2nd and The Chameleon Club on June 8th; tickets and information can be found here.
