You’ve heard about the Friday night show at BB&T with Wilco, Conor Oberst and Hop Along; you’ve heard that Saturday will be headlined by Spoon, Amos Lee and more. This morning, we bring you the first wave of artists performing at Wiggins Park during the 2017 XPoNential Music Festival.

At the top of today’s list of artists is Drive-By Truckers, the acclaimed Athens, Georgia rock five-piece fronted by singer and songwriter Patterson Hood; their eleventh studio album, American Band, was released last September and it’s socially-charged lyrics resonated in a big way during the heat of the election season.

Joining the Truckers are the crowd-pleasing soul favorites Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires, performing in support of their third LP, Changes, released on Daptone Records last April. Chicago songwriter Angel Olsen is in the mix as well; her 2016 album My Woman topped year-end best-of lists across the board.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who will back Amos Lee during his BB&T Pavilion set, will also give their own performance at Wiggins Park; a make-up of sorts for their set that got rained out last year. Philadelphia’s Strand of Oaks makes a return to XPNFest as well, with his spaced-out new live band in tow, not to mention the incredible Hard Love LP, which we’ve had in heavy rotation around these parts.

Also in the mix are Wilmington folk-rock favorites David Bromberg Quintet; the dynamic voices of Portland sister trio Joseph; Philly-for-life punk rock songwriter Dave Hause; Arkells, from Ontario; rip-roaring guitarist Davy Knowles of Back Door Slam; the Austin latin funk eight-piece Brownout; heavy, bluesy singer-songwriter Adia Victoria, from Nashville; and Brooklyn party rocker Xenia Rubinos…and that’s just for now. Another round of artists will be announced later this spring, so stay tuned.

You can get tickets to the XPoNential Music Festival — which takes place July 28 through July 30th on the Camden Waterfront — beginning this Friday, March 24th, at 10 a.m. XPN members will receive a discount for three-day weekend passes and more information can be found by going to XPNFest.org. Below, listen to music from some of the artists you’ll hear and see at Wiggins Park this year.
