Electronic trips Elegant Animals don the silhouetted tiger once again for another 4-track EP, Warm Blood Pt. 2, the follow-up to last month’s Warm Blood Pt. 1. The brainchild of Jules Kazys Franklin dives further into oddity and progresses his R&B name into a black hole of self-reflection.

All tracks bring their own twist on the ambient electronica Franklin has been churning out since 2012, interlacing computer-generated sounds with some lovely subtle live tracking. “Danger” relies on some bouncing hi-hats to groove its way through 5+ minutes of hush-hush vocals and plucking six strings, before dropping right into some classic 90s New York street corner boomboxing on “Ra Interlude.”

“Amateur Video” throws in some good ol’ bass slappin’ to compliment the finger-snapping slow-grooving track, almost spilling into late-aughties chillwave. Booming synths clap in and out of the mostly spoken word final track of “Saved,” flowing its way into a final whirlwind of vocals. Warm Blood Pt. 2 steps outside the line of R&B while somehow sticking to its roots, marking another progressive success for the local music maker.
