Indie pop songwriter, boundary-breaker and XPN fave Erin McKeown announced plans to release her new EP Mirrors Break Back on March 31st. With the new album comes a local appearance as a special musical guest on podcast Welcome To Night Vale’s U.S. tour, set to hit the Keswick Theatre on April 12th.

McKeown exemplified her self-scrutiny on this release, saying “…we have to first acknowledge and understand how we diminish ourselves with our own thoughts before we can more effectively fight the powers that are actively trying to break us from the outside. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy, and I’ve got to work through that so I have the foundation to help others.”

“Pretty Little Cemetery,” the first single released from MBB, is a slow-grooving R&B track that hits those words right on the head. The cemetery houses those feelings six-feet under, sporting emotions that should’ve been dug up and dealt with a long time ago. And all those drives past the flower-infested field are just another reminder.
