1963 – Sixteen-year-old Lesley Gore records her breakthrough #1 hit, “It’s My Party.”

1967 – The photo session for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band takes place at Chelsea Manor studios in London with Michael Cooper. After the shoot, The Beatles resume work at Abbey Road studios on “With a Little Help From My Friends,” adding guitars, bass, tambourine, and backing vocals. The session begins at 11:00 pm and ends at 7:30 am.

1968 – The Yardbirds perform and record Live Yardbirds at the Anderson Theater.

1974 – The Ramones performed in front of an audience for the first time.

1981 – The Pretenders release Extended Play.

1989 – Gladys Knight performs solo for the first time since her grammar school years without The Pips at a gig in Las Vegas.

1992 – PJ Harvey releases her debut album, Dry.

1992 – R.E.M. starts recording sessions for Automatic For The People album at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York.
