Parents, listen up – your days of compromising your musical faves in favor of more child-suitable material may be over, courtesy of Klebe & Davis. The local duo, which includes Matt Amadio, formerly of The Fleeting Ends, and his brother Dave, released Music for Parents & Children earlier this month.

Think whimsical lyrics about the first day of school, mysterious dust bunnies, and a strange dog paired with your favorite Ween-via-Zappa songs – it’s like Wayside Stories from Wayside School meets your best college-era mixtape. You might hear some “Buckingham Green” or “Happy Colored Marbles” on “Fire Drill,” while your child, eyes growing wide when “Jeremiah peed under the slide,” imagines with a mix of terror and fascination the unknown world that exists outside of school when you’re supposed to be inside of school.

As the duo lays out in opening track “And Then Pretend,” that’s really what the album is all about – giving kids and parents some fuel to stretch their imaginations together.

Klebe & Davis write via Bandcamp:

The album supposes that in each child there is a mature adult longing to hear something soulful, and, conversely, that in each adult there is a boundless child itching to hear something silly.
