Philly band The Bigness headlines tonight at The Barbary in Northern Liberties, supported by local bands The Lemats and The Upticks (only bands with “The” in the name are allowed to perform tonight). The Bigness released their debut LP Time Traveler last year to follow 2011’s Surf + Turf, growing into their solid indie rock sound. More information on the 21+ show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
Tonight marks the highly anticipated record release show of Northern Arms‘ new album Chapel Cabaret, premiering tonight at Boot and Saddle. The 10-piece Philadelphia band’s last release was 2014’s self-titled debut LP, a brooding, “You Want It Darker”-esque noir-rock sound with gospel and americana undertones. Northern Arms have released one music video to preview the new record, “Away With Words.” Watch the video below and get ready for the release of Chapel Cabaret. For more information on the show (21+) see the XPN Concert Calendar.

In other record release news, Philly rockers Soraia are scheduled to celebrate the release of their new LP Dead Reckoning on September 23rd at MilkBoy, and they have a new single premiering at the end of July. Tonight is your chance to likely hear a preview of what the the quartet has been working on over the past three years and be a part of the shoot for coverage of their live set, begun during a performance in New York and set to finish at Bourbon and Branch. Tubey Frank and Jackson Howard joins them on stage. Click here for more information on the 21+ show.
