With a new year comes a new reason to celebrate — 2018 is the Benjamin Franklin Parkway’s 100th birthday, and they’re kicking off a full year of celebration a little bit early. This Friday, the Philadelphia Museum of Art will host the first Parkway 100 event — a free concert featuring an ensemble of local jazz and folk musicians led by multi-talented Philadelphia songwriter, guitarist and producer Ross Bellenoit. Titled 100 Years in Philly Music, the concert is a tribute to the rich history of our city’s music and arts scene and will feature songs composed in Philadelphia.

In the coming months, the museum will host a series of special programs and exhibitions centered around the centennial theme of “Collections and Connections,” so keep an eye on their calendar of events for more. Parkway 100 runs from September 8, 2017 to November 16, 2018 with events citywide.

Pay What You Want admission to the museum gets you free access to the concert, which takes place in the Great Stair Hall. Pay What You Want begins at 4 p.m., with performances starting at 5:45 and 7:15 p.m. Ticket information can be found at philamuseum.org.
