Watch a video for Angel Olsen’s “Special,” a song from her Phases collection
Indie rocker Angel Olsen just released a music video for a new / old song, “Special.” The song dates back to her her MY WOMAN recording sessions, and will appear on her upcoming outtakes and rarities selection, Phases.
Of the track, Olsen says:
“‘Special’ always felt like a band song to me, something to lose track of ourselves in. It didn’t quite fit the rest of MY WOMAN and was a major deciding factor on whether or not it would mean a double LP. MY WOMAN came out and I kept thinking about the song and wanting to play it anyway.”
“Special” is a song about meeting expectations and the fear of failure on the way there – paired with a beautifully understated music video, it won’t disappoint fans who have been waiting for new music from Olsen.
Phases, out November 10th, is a collection of B-sides, rarities, and demos from the past several years, acting as a deep-dive for longtime fans, as well as a fitting introduction to Olsen’s sprawling sonics for the uninitiated.
