Slaughter Beach, Dog’s album Birdie is available everywhere today via Lame-O Records. But before then, in an incredibly bold move of transparency, Jake Ewald and pals decided it was time to expose the horribly dark, forbidden, entirely and completely shocking secret behind the album through a mini documentary.

The video begins with Ewald’s loved ones describing their relationship with him, and detailing his exemplary character — well, at least, once exemplary character. Things quickly go south (err west?) when Ewald’s true colors are revealed.

Having teased the record with twang-tinged tracks, “Building the Ark,” “Gold and Green,” “Fish Fry,” and “Acolyte,” this newly revealed truth will have you questioning why you didn’t recognize the signs before. And for fans who are aware of SBD’s self-described bio — which involves a particular emoji — this difficult news might not come as such a shock. But either way, it still hits hard just the same.

Watch the hilarious video below. If the unsettling revelation isn’t too ostracizing, listen to Slaughter Beach, Dog’s new album Birdie now. Then catch SB,D on Lame-O’s five-year anniversary at the First Unitarian Church on Sunday, November 26th; more information at the XPN Concert Calendar. Or if you’re up for some travel, feel free to make a trip down to the Big Apple’s Mercury Lounge on November 24th (a.k.a. Black Friday) as a point of spiritual relief from the debilitating depths of mind-numbing consumerism. Oh yeah, and for just a good ole’ time. Find info on the show here.
