Katie Frank‘s sound covers just about everything from sparse singer-songwriter folk to full-band blues meets pop meets rock. The Philly artist’s new track takes her a big leap forward in the latter direction — there’s nothing sparse about “The Delusion.”

The latest single from Frank’s forthcoming album All You’ll Get From Greed, “The Delusion” is a dynamic, genre-defying song representative of an artist who has finally found her place in the music scene. On the track, Frank reminds herself to “give into the delusion,” which, in her case, is her dream of being a career musician. Listening to Frank’s music, though, it’s hard to believe she ever considered not pursuing this far-out dream — “The Delusion” is full of the seemingly effortless sound of a natural-born musician, complete with catchy hooks and confident vocals that make us endlessly thankful Frank took the music path. After all, Frank sings, “I’ve got nothing to lose but my money and my mind.”

Frank tells New Noise Magazine:

“While working 9-5 on a dementia unit at a Philadelphia nursing home, I was always dreaming of a life and career as a musician but felt like it was a pipe dream, or a delusion. I wrote this song when I finally decided to pursue my dream, and make the delusion a reality.”
