Philly singer-songwriter Wyatt Flynn makes his debut with the new Moving Day EP, out now on Bandcamp. A self-described “Trans Sadboy Making Music About Being Gay And Having Feelngs,” Flynn filters his personal experiences into narrative-driven songs, moving from uncertainty to optimism over the EP’s four tracks.
Though its somewhat disjointed production won’t have you mistaking Flynn for a seasoned recording artist, Moving Day‘s homespun-sounding elements often work in its favor, shifting emphasis to the raw honesty behind the striking, emotional lyrics. Accompanied by acoustic guitar, Flynn shifts between whispering almost inaudibly to singing out without reserve in the span of a single song, tying up the EP with the catchy and resonant “The National Anthem (Gay Hooray),” which builds a sense of community and strength.
